About this deal

If you’ve yet to read T.M. Logan’s The Catch book then you might well be a little surprised by the changes that have reportedly been made to the Collier family and their home in the gripping Channel 5 show. In the Channel 5 drama which starts on January 25, as per RadioTimes.com, the setting is now the coast of the South West of England where Ed is a fisherman. Abbie, a young teacher meets Ryan, a mature man, 10 years her senior. They instantly fall in love. He's well educated, hard working and adores Abbie. He treats her well, respects her and is far superior to the usual low lives she dates- the perfect man for your daughter to marry- right? It is a countdown to the wedding and Ed is determined to make sure his daughter, Abby, is getting "the catch" she thinks she is!! THE CATCH, Tim’s thrillers have sold more than two million copies in the UK and are published in translation in 22 other countries including Italy, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Greece, South Korea, Romania and the Netherlands. Smartly laid red herrings keep you guessing. Delivered in short, punchy chapters, the pace of this crisp and clever thriller doesn't let up until the dramatic climax * Sunday Mirror *

You never quite know who to believe. Is Ed being over protective and paranoid? Is Ryan hiding something? You need to read this to believe it The Catch stars Jason Watkins and Poppy Gilbert (Credit: Channel 5) What is The Catch on Channel 5 about? The Catch follows Ed Collier, a proud husband, father and local fisherman who is delighted to meet his 23-year-old daughter’s fiancé for the first time. I'll admit, I was slightly terrified that it wouldn't match up to my expectations. The Holiday was and still is my no*1 read from last year and didn't think anything could match up BUT Oh My Days this was incredible. Ed is now determined to discover and expose who the real Ryan is. Yes, he may have disliked Abbie’s other boyfriends in the past. I mean, no one is really good enough for Ed’s daughter. But this time it’s different. This time Ed sees true evil behind Ryan’s eyes!

Is The Catch a true story?

The Channel 5 drama is based on the book of the same name, by TM Logan that was originally published in 2020. Poppy Gilbert when starring in BBC1's 2021 drama Chloe. I honestly could not rate this any higher. Tim you have worked your magic again, I can't wait to read what's next! But when a rich, handsome younger man enters daughter, Abbie’s, life and threatens to take her away from him, Ed finds his life spiralling out of control. Logan gives us convincing glimpses into the damaged human psyche, whilst tantalising the reader’s own mind with questions and doubts throughout the narrative. I enjoyed Logan's previous ('The Holiday’) - but I found this one even more compelling and it will be a hard act to follow. I found the storyline of the new boyfriend/ over protective father a little bit predictable and the whole plot did seem to be exhausted in parts during the first half however that being said the second half of the book was when everything began to unfold and it managed to redeem itself. Ryan does seem too good to be true and helps add abit of ambiguity, whilst Abbie's mum Claire thinks her husband's reactions are ridiculous. His also had a history of scaring off Abbie's previous boyfriends, which adds some good uncertainty during Ed's chapters. My favourite part was Claire hitting Ryan with a large metal Thermos. That was so laughably bad and ridiculous it was hilarious. Moral of the story? Don't go anywhere without a Thermos. Here's the main plot and episode guide for The Catch. Please do look away if you want to avoid spoilers...

Three-dimensional characters, a family unit under stress, with a tragedy at the heart – all brilliantly framed in the thriller genre. Well, I have been working my way through the Prime Ministers – I popped up in BBC1’s SAS: Rogue Heroes as Winston Churchill – so maybe I could do a few more of those and get to Liz Truss. That’d be interesting!" Interview: Aneurin Barnard on playing Ryan Wilson

Ed’s daughter Abbey brings her new boyfriend Ryan home for the first time and announces that they are engaged and getting married. What is a father to do when he senses something is off about Ryan, his daughter’s fiancée? Everyone loves him, and thinks he's the perfect catch. But Ed knows better. His intuition tells him Ryan is dangerous. Should he act on it? Despite the gripping nature of The Catch, the series is NOT based on a true story. How can I watch The Catch? THE Catch is a a psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of the seats.
